I sincerely detest click baits and I’ve programmed myself to never give those links the satisfaction of being opened, and here I am almost doing the same thing, but in a much milder format. The one time I tried click baiting my little community of readers, I felt terrible, but yeah it was funny. There’s a difference between click baits and curiosity-piquing content. One relies on sensationalism, while the other relies on a more restrained and objective approach.
It’s typical of news outlets to garner engagements from click baits, but there are certain topics that should be off limits. Sensationalized click baits about security threats or emergencies would obviously lead to panic, same as click baits regarding false outbreaks of misleading information about medical conditions.
I know people love the juicy gist about celebrities and most recently sport personalities, but is it really worth it? Well Money makes the world go round, so it would definitely continue. Surprisingly it is not illegal, as it is simply a style of content creation. It only becomes illegal when these click baits contain false information, scams, or deceptive practices.
It is very important to distinguish between clickbait as a style of content creation and the specific actions that might make it illegal. Ethical content creation is encouraged to maintain trust and integrity online.
